Tetramer of approximately 60 kDa. Prealbumin or Transthyretin is a nutritional status marker used to monitor sufficient protein and energy intake for hospitalised patients. Prealbumin assessment can be associated with RBP as an indicator of hepatic synthesis in acute liver disease.
