Natriuretic Peptide (BNP) or NT Pro-BNP or Cardiac

BNP (B-type Natriuretic Peptide) is a 29 amino acid hormone released from the ventricles and acting as an arterial vasodilator and a renin inhibitor. It is a new class of cardiac marker specifically indicating congestive heart failure (CHF). Measurement of plasma levels is particularly useful as a marker of left ventricular failure (LVF).The 39 amino acid prohormone Pro-BNP offered here, is claimed to be a more sensitive marker showing a greater and faster plasma rise than BNP itself following LVF.
